Jordan's Story
After getting hit in the head with a baseball, a scan revealed that Jordan had a cerebral cavernous malformation — a large lesion on his brain. After researching the best programs in the country, his family decided that the neurosurgery team at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt was the right choice. After brain surgery and recovery, he began his journey to rehabilitation — he would have to relearn everything, from how to eat to how to walk. Now a year out from surgery, Jordan is home and receiving outpatient physical therapy. “I think I’m doing great because after surgery, I couldn’t even brush my teeth, and now I can solve my Rubik’s cube,” said Jordan. “My goal is to walk on my own and play sports again, and I know that with hard work, I can do anything.”
Jordan is now a senior in high school and has been going in person. He is three years into a five-year rehab plan and his doctors believe he will have a full recovery. He has a 3.8 GPA and wants to be a sports medicine doctor!

This event is a unique chance to connect with our mission on a personal level. Be inspired and discover how your support is making a real difference in children’s lives. And for our young attendees, we’ve prepared a fun and interactive kids’ activity that will keep everyone entertained.
